Member Code of Conduct

The Kirkland Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to fostering a supportive, professional, and respectful business community. This Code of Conduct outlines expectations for behavior at Chamber events and interactions among members, ensuring a positive experience for all. By adhering to these guidelines, we can work together to promote a culture of collaboration, respect, and growth.

Respectful Interaction

Members are expected to treat each other with dignity and respect. This includes engaging in professional, constructive dialogue and avoiding any form of harassment, discrimination, or disrespectful behavior, including lewd or off-color comments or jokes. Harassment of any kind—whether based on race, gender, religion, age, sexual orientation, or disability—will not be tolerated.

Professionalism

Members should maintain a high standard of professionalism during Chamber events and when engaging in any Chamber-related activities. This includes being punctual, prepared, and respectful of others' time. Personal accountability and integrity are always expected.

Constructive Communication

Members are encouraged to foster open, honest, and constructive communication. Whether discussing business or offering feedback, interactions should be positive and geared towards mutual benefit and collaboration. Disagreements should be handled respectfully and privately, whenever possible.

Promotion of a Positive Environment

Members are expected to contribute to a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere at all Chamber events and activities. Each member should help create an environment where everyone feels valued and included.

Collaboration and Support

The Chamber encourages a spirit of collaboration among members. This includes supporting fellow members' businesses, attending events, and promoting the success of others within the community. Members are expected to work together, sharing knowledge, resources, and connections.

Social Media

Members are expected to maintain a high level of professionalism and respect in all interactions, including online. The use of social media or any digital platform to disparage, defame, or otherwise harm the reputation of an individual or business will not be tolerated. Such behavior is inconsistent with the Chamber’s values of collaboration, integrity, and mutual support. We encourage all members to use social media in a manner that promotes positivity, goodwill, and the growth of our community.

Confidentiality

Members must respect the confidentiality of any proprietary or personal information shared by other members or the Chamber. Confidential information should not be shared without explicit permission.

Alcohol and Substance Use

At Chamber events where alcohol is served, members are expected to drink responsibly and maintain professional behavior. Illegal substances are strictly prohibited at all Chamber functions.

Consequences of Misconduct

Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, including removal from an event, suspension of membership, or revocation of membership privileges, depending on the severity of the infraction.

By adhering to this Code of Conduct, we can ensure that the Kirkland Chamber of Commerce remains a vibrant, respectful, and successful organization for all members. Let’s continue to work together to support each other and our community.
