When will the Relief Fund Application Process open and close?

The Application Process opens on Monday, April 3, 2020, at 9 AM Pacific Time.

The Application Process will close on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at 6 PM Pacific Time.

Are the grants awarded on a first-come first-served basis?

No. You may apply anytime during the application window between Monday, August 3 and Sunday, August 9. The timing of your submission during this window will not affect your ability to be awarded any funds.

If you find there is a slowdown on the server, we recommend you file your online application outside normal business hours when it should be less busy.

Who can apply for the Round Two grant from the Kirkland Small Business Relief Fund?

A.  Small businesses and small nonprofits who fit the following criteria are eligible to apply for Round One:

  1.  Any commercial business or small nonprofit serving customers and constituents of the general public.
  2.  Small businesses and nonprofits that hold a current business license number with the City of Kirkland. Please make sure you have your license number available before you fill in the application form.
  3.  Demonstrate a negative financial impact from COVID-19 (have your numbers from July 2019 to July 2020 available before you start the application form).
  4.  Twenty-five (25) or fewer FTE (full time equivalent) employees.

Can I apply for Round Two if I already applied for Round One and was a successful applicant?

Yes.

Do you need to be a current Kirkland Chamber member in order to qualify for a grant from this fund?

No. Kirkland Chamber membership is not a requirement to qualify.

Will the application process be the same as Round One?

No.  For Round 2 any small business or small nonprofit may apply as long as they meet the outlined criteria. Once all applications are received and the process has closed, a lottery will be held. There will be 200 successful applicants whose business will receive $1,000.

How much money is available?

$200,000 funded by donations is available for funding Round Two. Contributions have been actively solicited. We will be posting a full list of donors in the near future.

What can the money be used for?

Grants are unrestricted and are intended to help with general business expenses such as rent, utilities, employee salaries, and other operating costs incurred during the COVID-19 crisis.

How will grant decisions be made?

The Kirkland Small Business Relief Fund aims to provide immediate financial assistance to Kirkland’s hardest hit small businesses and small nonprofits, and those suffering especially from social distancing and stay home, stay healthy directives. A committee of impartial members has created the qualification criteria. All applicants meeting these criteria will be entered into a lottery, from which 200 award recipients will be selected.
