Recommended reading includes “Zero to Five,” by Tracy Cutchelow, and “The Word Gap: The Early Years Make the Difference” from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) also known as TALIS.

  • ZERO to FIVE – 70 Essential Parenting Tips Based on Science (And What I’ve Learned So Far) by Tracy Cutchelow, is now available at Parkplace Books, Kirkland, Simplicity ABC in Kirkland and King County Libraries.
  • “The Word Gap: The Early Years Make the Difference” in PDF by The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), is available in most doctors’ offices.

If you like reading data, we recommend you read “Teaching and Learning International Survey Overview” from the National Center for Education Statistics (TALIS). TALIS offers an opportunity for teachers and school principals to provide their perspectives on the state of education in their own countries, allowing for a global view of teachers and the education systems in which they work.

  • TALIS 2013 tables with U.S. data released on June 25, 2014. These tables, adapted from the OECD’s TALIS 2013 report, are available here.
